Gratitude
“Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.” 2 Corinthians 9:15
This time of year, it is so easy to get caught up in all the have-to-dos. I have always loved the Christmas season—not for the gifts, but because it brings us to a time of gathering, a time to remember what is really important.
My life is so different now from what it was twenty years ago. My heart still yearns for the days when my home was filled with children, extended family members, pets, clutter, and dirt that was vacuumed and swept every single day.
Ours was a busy life, but we made time every day to be grateful—to share at least one meal together, whether it was around our table, on the tailgate of a truck, or standing at the counter in our little farm produce and garden gift shop.
As the mom of this wild bunch and their friends, I wanted them all to know just how much I loved each and every one of them—how grateful I was to be their mother, mentor, and friend.
My children are my gift to the world.
I am also deeply grateful to God for the friends I have made through the years. Some I don’t see often, some I have known since high school, but the bonds of love and friendship remain.
Serving you in the Idaho Legislature—meeting so many people and forming new friendships, bonds that will last the rest of my life—will be something I cherish long after my memory has faded from those halls.
I pray these memories never leave my heart.
I am grateful for the birth, life, and death of our Savior. I cannot imagine the pure anguish of His parents, earthly and heavenly alike, as they witnessed the beyond-human torture of their Son. I am grateful to them for the love they so completely shared with every man, woman, and child who will be born on this glorious planet—unconditional love.
Life is good. God is good. I am grateful to you.
Merry Christmas
