Idaho Congressional Leaders Respond to Gang of 8 Concerns Over Qatari Air Force Facility
Two responses move the issue forward, but key questions remain.
We’ve stayed in touch with Idaho’s congressional delegation as questions about the Qatar agreement continue to unfold.
Late last week, two things happened:
Governor Little, Senators Crapo and Risch, and Congressman Simpson sent a letter to Secretary of War Pete Hegseth asking for a briefing on the Qatar agreement at Mountain Home Air Force Base.
Congressman Russ Fulcher sent a response directly to the Gang of 8, addressing several of the questions we raised.
We appreciate that Idaho’s federal delegation took our concerns seriously and that Congressman Fulcher took the time to respond. His letter helps answer some questions, but others still need clarity. A full briefing remains necessary.
Idahoans deserve answers on how this deal came about, how it’s being funded, and what safeguards are in place. We also need to understand how this fits within the mission of the U.S. military to defend America and her borders, not to train foreign militaries whose loyalties may not align with ours.

The Gang of 8 will keep working to get Idaho the answers it deserves. We stand by our request for a full briefing with Secretary Hegseth and will share updates as this progresses.
