No Due Process on Social Media
A note from the Gang of 8 – Don’t let social media tell you what to think.
In today’s political world, social media doesn’t wait for facts. Accusations are made, repeated, and amplified until they start to feel like truth. A few likes, a share, a comment, and suddenly, a false narrative takes hold.
It’s not about evidence or context. It’s about momentum.
That’s where the real damage begins—not just to reputations, but to honest public discourse.
We are conservative legislators who won tough primary battles by standing firmly on principle. We told voters what we would do, then went to Boise and did it. That includes taking bold, and sometimes unpopular, positions on budget bills.
We kept our word.
Recognizing our country's looming financial disaster—$36 trillion in national debt and rising—we took a hard look at Idaho’s growing dependence on federal dollars. We understand what’s at stake. Every dollar we accept from Washington comes with chains, and every chain pulls us further from true state sovereignty.
So we took a stand.
We refused to support budget bills that were massively propped up with federal funding, and we refused to add more weight to Idaho’s already bloated bureaucracy. With the state government now Idaho’s largest employer, we knew the pushback would come. Bureaucracy doesn’t shrink; it protects itself.
But we didn’t run for office to protect the status quo.
We ran to protect Idaho.
Some didn’t like it. That’s expected.
But rather than debate ideas, some chose to spin narratives. It’s easier to assign motives than engage with facts. And in today’s digital echo chambers, that’s all it takes, one post, a few likes, and a fiction starts to feel like fact.
Here’s what we ask: bring a critical eye to what you read on social media.
Just because someone says it with confidence doesn’t make it true.
Just because others agree doesn’t mean they’ve checked the facts.
Just because it fits your preferred narrative doesn’t mean it’s real.
We're easy to reach if you have questions about how we voted or why. Talk to us, and you’ll find we say what we mean, stick to our principles, and take your questions seriously.
Idaho, you say you’re conservative. So, support ALL the conservatives who are governing that way.
We’re doing the hard things now, because the cost of doing nothing is too high.
And we’re committed to keeping Idaho, Idaho.
It’s easy to follow the noise. It takes wisdom to pause, ask questions, and seek the truth. That’s not a new problem, it’s a human one. And Scripture reminds us of the difference between chasing headlines and pursuing understanding.
Don’t just scroll past, get the facts and speak up.
Have the courage to speak the truth to the naysayers.
Commit to seeking the truth among the noise.
Don’t let the loudest voices drown out the honest ones.

Thank you, as always, Christy Z, for your steadfastness and devotion to liberty.
As voters, the two-year election cycle drives us nuts. Money to donate, candidates to support, people to educate, lies to extricate from truth. Exhaustion takes over for grassroots and candidates.
Suggestion: Use your Substack even more to attract paid subscribers (you already report the subscriptions to Sunshine as campaign donations).
You could add value and campaign messages via Substack’s podcast and chat features, special offers for paid subscribers, etc. Audio / video podcasts seem easy to set up on Substack and can be posted to other platforms.
