Last week was legislative orientation at the Statehouse; it was busy with so much going on.
New legislators listened to Legislative Services presentations. New legislators were told how they should behave. That is not the place of a bureaucratic agency.
During the day’s presentations, legislators were told to “trust” the lobbyists who are paid to influence decisions and votes. These are big business entities, hospitals, unions, etc. This is nothing more than leadership and the executive branch working to intimidate new lawmakers into a false sense of security in their level of trust for these outside powerful entities.
Number one, as your elected official, I work for you, you pay me to do your bidding and to make decisions that benefit you and your family. For an agency that falls under the preview of the governor to work to ensure that
I had a wonderful time getting acquainted with others and getting further prepared for the start of the legislative session in January.
We were sworn in on Thursday, and we chose the seats that we would sit in on the floor and the offices that would be our home for the duration of the session for the next two years.
I always feel the weight of the responsibility to the people of this state when I raise my arm to the square and pledge my sacred honor to uphold the Constitution of our country and our state. SO HELP ME GOD
This year at the Statehouse was extra special for me. This was the first year I helped honor our fallen heroes by decorating the Gold Star family Christmas tree. This tree represents all our Idaho Gold Star families, those from Idaho who have been killed in action defending our freedoms and liberties. I do not take their sacrifice lightly and will do everything I can to honor them.
Ana Workman, whose son Chris paid the ultimate price, keeps this tradition going year after year. Idaho is so blessed to have Ana.
During the primary and general elections, Idahoans overwhelmingly expressed their expectation of a conservative legislature.
It is now our job as legislators to deliver. There is no excuse.
We must eliminate the grocery sales tax and relieve this unnecessary burden for Idaho families.
Crafting education choices so parents can provide their children with the best education options.
Providing security for Idaho from the open borders eliminates the social and tax burden that a porous border with no checks has on our state. Cheap labor is not an excuse to facilitate drugs and child trafficking.
We have a responsibility to protect our right to self-defense and the right to be considered innocent before we are considered guilty in the tragic event we are found in a position of having to use deadly force to defend ourselves and our loved ones.
Our state budget is growing faster than our population. My most important job is to expose waste and fight to cut the budgets of bureaucratic agencies that are unstoppable in their growth and spending.
I took the oath of office, which I will faithfully uphold. I swore to uphold our founding documents, the Constitution of the United States and Idaho.
These documents are our guide to conducting the proper role of the government. We are a Republic, and the conservative mandate demands adherence to those principles
My committee assignments in the Senate for the next two legislative sessions are:
-Vice Chair of Agricultural Affairs
-Commerce & Human Resources
-Education
The most important responsibility that I have is to Represent YOU in District 8,
My job is to make votes that will protect our state's citizens from government overreach, lower our tax burden, and shrink the size and scope of government at every opportunity.
Serving on these committees will allow us to make our voices heard and make an everlasting impact on our communities and future generations of Idahoans. We can be an example to the entire country.
You must stay informed and actively engage with me, other legislators, and your sphere of influence. The legislative session in January will start before we know it, and the work of accomplishing the conservative mandate will begin!
Things move fast during the session. Don't hesitate to contact me with your concerns or anything I can help with. I am YOUR VOICE at the Capitol.
God bless,
Senator Christy Zito

The above is both sad and disgusting. Our legislators -- new and seasoned -- must NOT listen to lobbyists, IACI, and any others who wish to bully you. We know you will stay strong in your commitment to the citizens who elected you, Christy, and we hope you will be an example to all the others who also must resist the intimidation, money, and power of these entities.
And please, please, please add health freedom to your list of important priorities. No one is bravely talking about these issues (other than MAHA) but everyone must be. We essentially lost these freedoms to public/private interests -- especially during the COVID tyranny -- but in other areas too. We must restore these freedoms and ensure they are never stolen from us again.
Several people worked to put together a one-stop page to inspire lawmakers in this direction. So we share it here, again:

[ Given the new makeup of committee leadership and committees, we may not realize our goals, but we must try anyway. ]
Thank you, Christy. We look forward to having you stand as a warrior for Idaho citizens. Much weight on your shoulders, but you have so many behind you in support.
I understand people wanting to get rid of the grocery tax. I personally feel that the Socialist/Communist/Marxist property tax should be eliminated. People buy their property with taxed money and they improve their property with taxed money. The problem is they never truly own their property. They have to pay the property tax every year or risk losing their property to the government. Time for this tax to be abolished.
Thank you for all you do and have done for Idaho residents.
